Love mine! I only wish that the company sold the sliding clip separately. Mines been lost for a year now. But I make it work by using a large rubber band going vertically on the outside to keep it together… thx Leslie!

I also love the art tool kit, but I thought you should know that the larger version of the portable painter is excellent because if you’re sitting down which I generally do when I’m painting it balances on your thigh. I was in Bermuda for six weeks and it holds lots of paint And I found it great because I could just sit on a beach or on a hill or anywhere I wanted and it balanced on my leg so I didn’t need a table or an easel or anything. Thank you for your excellent review and I agreed with pretty much everything you said for the ones that I have tried myself.

I'm fond of mine, although it has to compete with several other favorites. The pans are exactly the same as Winsor & Newton pans, if the poor fit of the other pans bothers you. The extras they offer through their website are actually the only way I've found to buy W&N sized pans without paint in them.

Wow, this is the third time I have come across an instance of the Schmincke flask palette box being shockingly shoddy in workmanship. Paint chipping, warping, and cap not fitting properly, were common complaints. I sure hope Schmincke makes things right for its customers who trusted their brand only to receive such a disappointing product.

I’ve been using this palette for over a year now and is the one I always take when I travel. I’ve used it on airplanes, cruise ships, in multiple countries. If you don’t have I would add to your Christmas wish list lol

Тут много кто пишет про то, что краску от дерева будет сложно оттереть, но как по мне это не проблема. Палитра это штука, которой надо пользоваться, а в следствии работы у неё должны появиться пятна. Если вы так этого боитесь, повесте её чистинькую на стену и любуйтесь я незнаю. Удобнее всего использовать большую палитру без выемок вообще. А данная палитра, судя по коментам, сойдёт разве что как украшение.

I’m a hand quilter so that’s my art form, but the art I collect is mostly watercolors, Qing dynasty paintings on silk, Qing dynasty embroideries and crank badges, vintage and antique American watercolors, and I even have a Russian oil painting. I buy what I like and in quilts, I make what I like since I know how to make my own patterns and I have good color sense.

Love this palette it is so versatile and if you don’t want to use the water containers you don’t have to, you could just use the pallet on its own with a water brush. I have the Sendak artist roll and it fits in perfectly as is and even more streamlined without the plastic cover if you choose to use it that way.

Funny... like most, I just use the pencil or paintbrush to do the same thing.. even adding markings on them to make it simpler. YET - because I'm NOT an artist, I still can't transfer that into the drawing especially when (typically) not reproducing in 1:1 sizing. So...... it is a good idea in theory... but you still need some skill to be able to translate the idea into practice which is why my "art" looks childish and "wrong" compared to those with true artistic talent like yourself!

I loved seeing all of your supplies. I so wish I'd have started learning art when I was younger! I'm 67 and I've been doing art off and on since 52. Just recently started taking it more seriously and I love it so much. I don't know how to do much. I started with graphite, then colored pencil and now I'm in to pastel pencil, with an occasional soft pastel. I want to learn cold wax too. So little time. Anyway, thank you so much for this comprehensive tour!

I commented last time that this is the only portable palette I use or need. I paint outside all summer and I love it. All you need is it, some water and paper and you’re portable and it works very well. (I do bring a pencil and a gum eraser.)
